Ephesians 2:4
NLT
But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much,
NKJ
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great
love with which He loved us,
But God…two words that can change your whole mindset if you
are honest with yourself. Those six little letters can run big in your life,
they do in mine, and I have asked God to remind me daily of His richness. Because
those two words are not followed by anything that I can offer God. It’s HIS
rich mercy and HIS great love. Because I am unlovable, I am a “child of wrath”
(v.3), I am still capable of sinning. It’s HIS great love that has made me who
I am and that’s still growing because I am far from complete.
I cannot make myself lovable to God. If my mindset is that I
have something that God needs, then that’s nothing more than pride. But God wants
me! But God wants you! God both has love and gives loves to us. It
doesn’t matter who you are…”For God so loved the world”
That extends to the unlovable, to the children of wrath. To
a young man who made a terrible choice and took a life. That young man is still
loved by God, still has a chance to experience HIS richness of mercy and HIS
great love. Through Jesus that love is extended to us as believers; but it’s
also offered to unbelievers. There is only one difference between me and an
unbeliever; one difference between a child of God and a child of wrath…one
decision.
“We must stop trying to make ourselves lovable to God, and
simply receive His great love while recognizing that we are unworthy of it.
This is the grace secret of the Christian life. “
