Corinthians 3:12-15
NKJV
Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each
one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be
revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be
saved, yet so as through fire.
NLT
Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety
of materials—gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw. But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder
has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value. If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward. But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss. The
builder will be saved, but like someone barely escaping through a wall of
flames.
The last two posts seem to have a theme, and I’m going to
continue that theme. Verse 10 brought to my mind the Cornerstone,
Jesus who shows us how to be level and straight in our lives as believers. Verse 11 brought to my mind the Capstone,
Jesus is who we are to strive to be like; the “top” of our lives.
Today is the keystone.
This is the central stone at the top of an arch that locks the whole
thing together. Jesus Christ is also our
Keystone; the One who holds it all together for us as believers. I think this also means that we must rely on
Him and let Him hold us together. We are
not capable in our own power to pursue a life in Christ. The Holy Spirit reveals that to us and all we
have to do is lean into that belief. I
believe that everything we do as followers of Christ; from serving other to
studying the Bible holds us together. It
proves that Christ is, and should be, the Keystone of our lives.
Held together,
cej
